About us…

We offer therapeutic, educational experiences via Jo McShane working with her three adorable miniature Shetland ponies.
We offer therapeutic equine interactions for both adults and learners who have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
We do not offer counselling or psychotherapy, though clients who experience anxiety and trauma have benefitted from working with our ponies.
Feedback from all of our clients consistently testifies to the calming benefits of engaging in our activities.
We also offer fun, enjoyable activities for non-SEND families and small groups. Our miniature Shetland adventures offer a great day out!

Equine Facilitated Interactions (sometimes called Equine Facilitated Learning or Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy) are experiential processes undertaken alongside horses. They facilitate the opportunities to model change and safely practice embodied difference in mindset and behaviour.

All of our equine interactions are tailored to meet the individual needs for the client via a thorough client consultation before the activity. We work to meet your preferences, desired outcomes and to identify the new skill or behavioural change you wish to achieve.

What do we offer?

Our business is run by an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) who has trained as an Athena Herd Foundation Equine Facilitator. This means I bring a unique combination of teaching excellence blended with therapeutic interactions with our miniature Shetland ponies.

Who would benefit from our services?

In short, EVERYONE! We offer three levels of service:

1. Family Shetland Pony Adventures for all to enjoy, catering for SEND and non-SEND individuals. These outings are fun and interactive, and enable all the family or group of friends to spend time walking or working with our Shetland crew!

Prices start from £48 per person based on 4 participants.

2. Therapeutic Equine Interactions for children or adults with identified needs. We personalise each 60 minute session to meet the needs of our clients. One to one or small group (up to 8 people) sessions are available.

Prices start from £58 per person for shared sessions

3. Mini Shetland Pony Parties for up to 8 children aged 4 and above. Younger children may accompany, though need to be supervised by an adult at all times

Prices start from £44 per person based on 8 people sharing.

Important information:

All services require a 50% non-refundable booking fee. Full payment required 7 days before your booking, and cancellations accepted until 7 days before the event.

Therapeutic interactions bookings require a pre-paid £48 assessment fee to ensure we meet your specific needs. A consultation meeting will be arranged on Teams or zoom to complete a 30 minute client consultation.

Family adventures and parties do not have a consultation fee. Your set-up phone call is free of charge.

Meet the Team

Paddy

Our beautiful chestnut gelding with a flaxen mane and tail. Paddy is the quietest herd member and works best with teenagers and adults.

Dancer

Our blue eyed boy! Dancer is smaller than some dog breeds and has the cheekiest face. He loves cuddles and being brushed. Works brilliantly with all our clients.

Mouse

The most grown-up herd member, Mouse the mini mare is gentle, patient and kind. Will literally work anywhere and with anyone.

Please note, all telephone consultations for therapeutic work require a £48 pre-payment via bank transfer to ensure we meet your precise learning needs.

Consultations for family adventures and parties are free.
